 Brief Introduction to Stepping Stones

 

 

Stepping Stones Home is a shelter home located in Taman Seputeh for 54 people comprising women and children. The women and children who live at the Home have been abandoned, neglected or were victims of abuse. The children’s ages range from 3 to 22 years old. The residents of Stepping Stones Home currently live in an old bungalow, which is a rented premises. The G&S have taken on the task of improving the living conditions of the residents of Stepping Stones Home by carrying out refurbishment and renovation projects in various stages.

 Actual Condition at Stepping Stones

 

 

 

Actual condition: Only 1 common shower room
and 2 lavatories.

Improvements to be made: 3 individual shower rooms and 3 individual lavatories with one disabled-friendly.

 Stepping Stones Site Visit on 2nd Feb 2004
   

The group of G&S Welfare Sub-Committee Volunteers who went to look at the condition of the homes.

 Construction Stage (Day 1 and Day 2)

Excavation of ground to put in the septic tank below the ground level.

 Construction Stage (Day 3)
         
   

Work focus on the excavation and ground work in order to put in the septic tank. Also siphoning out of water and silt from the soft  ground.

 Day 4 work was focus on installing the 6 feet high septic tank into its position.
